Inyova was launched to turn millions of people into impact investors and make impact investing mainstream to create a better world through sustainable finance. We have already made huge strides in this direction: Over 10,000 impact investors are investing with Inyova to create positive change through investing.
Changing the minimum investment amount to encourage long-term investments
In 2022, we decided to decrease the minimum investment from EUR 2,000 to EUR 100 for Germany. We hoped that decreasing the entry hurdle would help more people become impact investors.
Since then, we’ve learned that this strategy doesn’t work. Too many of the customers starting with EUR 100 didn’t continue to invest after an initial trial period. On the other hand, customers that start with an investment of EUR 2,000 or more tend to be committed and follow a long-term investment approach.
Our assumption that this low entry hurdle would encourage new investors to grow their wealth over time has proven incorrect.
Accounts below a certain investment amount cost Inyova money with every trade, which makes this model impossible for us to maintain. For this reason, we’ve decided to raise the minimum investment in Germany back to EUR 2,000.
What this means for new customers
From 12 July 2024 onwards, it won’t be possible to open an Inyova account in Germany below the new minimum investment amount of EUR 2,000 anymore.
You can, however, set up a savings plan of EUR 500, which will allow you to reach the EUR 2,000 minimum investment within four months. Note that the monthly savings rate is EUR 500 until you have reached the minimum investment amount of EUR 2,000.
What this means for existing customers
Existing customers will have until 31 October 2024 to reach the EUR 2,000 threshold.
FAQ
- What happens if I don’t reach the minimum investment amount by 31 October 2024? If you don’t reach the EUR 2,000 minimum investment amount by 31 October 2024, your account will be divested and closed. In this case, your money (the net asset value of your portfolio on this day) will be transferred back to your reference account.
- What if my total investment was EUR 2,000 or more, but my account balance is currently below the threshold due to the performance of my investment? In this case, you can remain an Inyova customer and your account will not be divested.
- What happens if I withdraw money from Inyova, lowering my account balance below the new threshold? Withdrawals influence your total investment. For instance if you initially invested EUR 2,000 but have requested a withdrawal of EUR 500, your net investment is now only EUR 1,500. In this case you are affected by the changes and would need to top-up your account in order to reach the minimum investment amount of EUR 2,000.
